An astrophysicist by training, I am a teacher, tutor, educational consultant and curriculum developer. I teaches a diverse range of subjects and ages, both curricular and extra-curricular and have worked across the world from teaching and sharing my love of knowledge.
Currently based in Hong Kong, I was born and grew up in the green New Forest, United Kingdom, before moving to London to study Astrophysics at University College, London, the 4th top university in the world by QS World University Rankings. After graduating with a 1st Class degree and completing a Master’s where I studied astrochemistry, I travelled the world and tutoring a diverse array of students. After several years of work that took me from the Australian outback to the ski slopes of Japan, the jungle of Malaysia to the islands of the Aegean, I founded the NGO Phoenix Space in 2019 which delivers high-quality STEM education to young refugees in the Middle East and beyond.
Since settling down in Hong Kong and homeschooling many students during the COVID pandemic, I’m looking into delivering services that traditional schooling can’t, such as helping students publish their own research, technology projects using the cutting edge of AI and machine learning, and pursuing niche student interests like linguistics, archeology or the history of science. I enjoy formulating research topics for students to expand their CVs, supervise summer projects like drone photography, building a medieval siege weapon, designing non-Euclidean spaces in virtual reality. For a full list of services offered and my own CV, please look below.
In my spare time I like to collect and play stringed instruments from around the world and occasionally play them professionally, and I am currently learning Chinese.
